storms and quiet

Finally, we have our internet up and running well, and we have a good number of boxes unpacked. We are still settling in, and getting used to our happy new living arrangement. We keep walking around saying, "I know I've said this a hundred times, but I love our house!". This house is magical and lovely.

Today I will work on getting my studio set up, and finish the painting of the walls. I painted them from lavender to a white called "crisp linen". Now it feels a bit cold to me, so I'm going to see what I can do to warm it up. I need more shelving and I need to hang up art and inspiration, and I think that I'd like plants in there and some better lighting.

Scott was very sick this week, with a bad cold and a migraine that lasted for days. Luckily he had the week off, so he's been able to lie low and spend lots of quality time with the couch. Today he's back in Petaluma, picking up the last of his stuff from his old house.

The kids will be home from their dad's house any minute now, and I'm hoping to spend a nice day with them, setting up their room more fully, and doing some projects and maybe some baking. It is pouring rain today, we are getting a huge winter storm, and they are forecasting that it will rain through Monday. We already have flood warnings, and it's possible that school will be closed when it's time for the kids to go back on Tuesday!

I have lots of backed up blog postings that I'll try to write over the coming week, and photos of the house and of our Disney trip.

I hope that your holidays were everything you wanted them to be!

hi

I'm still alive.

The move has been hectic! The hardest part was getting out of my old house. Setting up the new one is fun, and it's been wonderful! I'll write more about that, and everything else next week probably. I'm busy busy busy. Oh, and I've been sick too, with a cold and nasty cough.

Internet access has been sporadic, we don't have our dsl yet, so we're on dial up which feels just way too slow. I haven't been able to read blogs or do anything online.

Look for lots of entries next week.

Happy Holidays!

ack! busy! sick kids!

I haven't had time to write about the Disney trip, because I'm busy packing and printing cards and trying to get some ebay listings done in these lucrative pre-Christmas weeks. I suppose I'll write about it after the move, because there's lots to tell! And photos too.

Sylvan woke up feeling sore throaty and sick today, and Zelia is recovering from the bad cold that she came down with at Disney Land. I guess that they aren't going to school today after all, so I'll have to work around them, because I have cards to print and packages to ship and things to list on ebay, and of course packing and taking junk to the thrift store!

I'm worried about making the new house look bad with all of my junky stuff. I want to operate on the William Morris principle: "Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."

say it isn't so!!!

The print Gocco machine is no more! The woman at my friendly local art supply store just told me that they got a letter from the Riso company stating that they will no longer be selling or producing Gocco machines. They have about three years' worth of screens, bulbs and inks, though this is not guaranteed!

Lame.

storm

It is storming here. The rain is coming down hard and there is thunder and lightning too! A rarity in NorCal. My house is leaking, I can hear a very loud and steady drip from the bathroom ceiling as I write this. My daughter's room is leaking badly as well.

I have lots to do today, but the rain kind of makes me want to curl up with a blanket and a book.

Tomorrow morning, we are heading to DisneyLand for Scott's company party. Pretty luxurious and neat. They are flying us all out there, putting us up in the resort, and giving us three day passes to the park. The kids and I have never been there, so it should be a good time.

I'll take lots of pictures, and hopefully one or two of them will be good like my friend Jessamyn's photos. She's a really talented photographer, and you should check out her blog and her website. And if you're getting married in the bay area and you need a photographer, well, you should hire her because she's great!
