I've been working like a mad weasel, making stuff, filing papers, and thinking thinking thinking. The little taste of success that I had this month has made me so happy. And it's given me confidence that the things I'm making are worthwhile, and that there may be people out there who want to have them.

I got myself a domain name and webhosting, and I'm going to make a website in the next few weeks to sell some things. I would love to sell the work of other artists and craftspeople from around here too. I'm going to sell paintings and prints, and t-shirts(once i get the money to order them), notebooks and other paper goods, felt stuff, and felt making kits (i'm so excited about those right now), and handbags with my monsters and other designs on them. I have lots of ideas.

I have some plans for marketing, and there are lots of people I know who I am wanting to ask if I can carry their work.

Hopefully I can manage all of this, and parenting, and school. I think I can.

yay! art show was good!!

My little art show at Moxie opened last night and it was so much fun! There were three people showing work. A photographer named Maya, a painter named Beth, and me. Tons of people came to the opening. I wish that I had brought my camera, or had Scott take photos, just so I could have a visual reminder of how cool it was that all those people came and looked at my paintings and pointed and talked about them....and bought them!! *gasp* I sold 11 paintings!! Eleven!!

And I got drunk and I think I squealed happily...at least once.

sniffle sneeze

bloody hell...i'm sick. cold, feverish, yukkiness.

i'm working on my paintings and i'm still uncertain about them, but oh well. i've been thinking about the art that i really want to make, and what i want to talk about with it, and i guess i'll start working on that after i get the stuff for this little show finished.

i've got 20 paintings all the way done. i'm shooting for 30-40. i don't want to really keep working though, i just want to lie here and watch movies and fall asleep, preferably with S.

hmmm kava....

I took some kava tonight to mellow my little self out for bed time. It seems to be working. I feel pretty good. I feel sleepy and okay. Not very productive at all, but calm. It feels good to be calm.

Maybe I should crawl into bed with my sketch book and sketch some ideas.

days and years

It's been a pretty good week so far, I've been busy, and so I haven't had much time to write here. Monday was my birthday, and I did some nice things. I went to coffee with my friend Desiree, and thrift shopping, and out for lunch.

When I came home from that, my friends Spring and Lacey were in my driveway, decorating my house and garage with streamers and balloons. It was very very sweet. Spring had cupcakes for me, and they both had gifts, and it was great. Then I had to do a little work and run to the grocery store before the kids came home.

I had asked, for my birthday, that Scott come and spend the night with me, so he showed up at around 9, and he had brought me a cd he made of Modest Mouse and Death Cab for Cutie songs. It's very good. He was tired from staying up late the night before and work and school and all that, so he kind of just went to sleep. I bugged him for a while, but it did no good.

The next day, Tuesday, was our anniversary. That made me happy. It's been a great year, and I am so happy that I met him. I have a small present-ish thing I'm working on for him, but it's not done yet. He came and slept over again, but only because I had another sort of night time being scared episode. And when he asked if I wanted him to come up I said, honestly, yes I do. But then I found out that he was exhausted again, and coming down with some kind of sore throat and cold type thing. He crawled right into bed and slept (well except that I kept him awake trying to talk to him, because I just can't go to sleep at 10 o'clock). He seemed quite sick and slept solidly until morning. I think that he didn't go to work today, but he did go to school.

I love having him come up here at night, I hate that it's always because I'm scared, and I feel guilty that it puts him 20 miles away from his work in the morning, so that he has to get up that much earlier. I feel pretty good tonight though.

Oh also on Tuesday, Larissa took me out to a very nice lunch for my birthday.

Today while the kids were at school I went to "craft morning" at Justine's and it was great. She has an incredible house, and it was nice to spend some time with her and Lacey working on stuff. I made a little birthday giftie for Dez. It has a skull and crossbones on it, of course.

And then tonight I had dinner with the neighbors.

Nice couple of days....but I didn't get much ebay work done. I think I'm going to slow down a bit with that for right now. I'll stick with the goal of around 40 listings per week until I get all of my work done for Moxie. That show is in like ten days and I'm not even close to being done.

i like libras, do you like libras??

yesterday was my birthday.

Saturday, October 02, 2004

I am so tired. I'm sorry this thing is so often about sleeping and not sleeping.

Even with a short nap today, I'm just exhausted and sad, and I didn't get anything done.

It is so hard for me to get to sleep most nights, and I'm not sure what to do about it, and when I'm this tired all the time everything seems overwhelming.

Okay gotta go get the kids on their little way to bed.

yesterday and today

The kids and I had dinner at Spring and Todd's house last night. I love going over there, we ate, and drank beer, and had a fire in the backyard fireplace and sat around talking while the kids played and roasted marshmallows. We stayed out late, and by the time I got home I was pretty drunk. I've missed going over there. I'd like to do that more regularly.

It was a lovely fall night last night too, clear and crisp and cool, but warm by the fire. Too bad their friend with the accordian wasn't there.

Spring says she's going to get a truckload of potting soil, maybe today, and we're going to go around taking cuttings of plants, and then grow them for our gardens. She has a beautiful garden already, and she's going to help me with mine, which needs lots of help.

I had a difficult time getting to sleep, I think I was up until 2, and then I woke up at around 8.

At around 9 I heard from Scott who was getting off the bus in Menlo Park. He was on his way to get his second free car. He had started his journey at 4:30 in the morning. He still hadn't had coffee at that point, and I imagine he's going to be feeling sick today. He called back a few hours later to say that the car was way better than his other one, and it really was free, but that the front brake had become jammed and smoke was pouring out of it, and he couldn't drive it any further. So he was kind of stuck, and trying to decide what he was going to do.

He sounded fairly cheerful, even though he had been awake for about 7 hours with still no caffeine, and probably not much to eat and he had the beginnings of a headache and was stranded in the south bay. Hopefully I'll hear from him again today and everything will be fine.

I don't know what the kids and I will be doing today. No real plans yet. They have lots of homework, and it needs to get done, so I suppose we'll be doing that. They get so much homework, it's just ridiculous. They have one big project per month, this month it was an autobiography, where they have to pick 8 or 9 little mini projects and put them together into a big project about themselves. (not done yet!) And they also have to do 2 pages of homework everyday in each subject; science, math, social studies, reading, language arts. 10 pages per day. Seems excessive to me.

blogger says...

Friday Fun!
Ask your readers to tell you three things they'd like you to post pictures of on your blog. So...I guess that would be Scott and Laurel.

Anything you want to see? My jerk of a cat? My messy office? A picture of what I'm making the kids for dinner?? Want me to set up a little scene with toys acting out some story and take a picture of it? Wanna see some of my ebay junk?

I'm bored today.

best entry ever

I did not write this, Joe Carr did, and I think it's brilliant for some reason. Here you go:

"sure, subject, right.

today i became more boring than yesterday.
i worked all day and watched my poor son at the same time.
if i were to add up the boy's hours and have to pay him one dollar an hour he'd have several hundred
dollars worth of sponge bob crap lying around the house. until he got wise and started saving for the chevy pick-up with duelies that he wants when he gets really old like me.
anyway boring bitch of an ass out-

Now I want to sign all of my entries "boring bitch of an ass out-"

no, not really....
well kinda maybe

neighborhood watch

Last night was the neighborhood watch meeting. We had really good turnout, around 20 or so people showed up. I think we are in a good position to get the nasty drug dealers out of here. We have the 30 million dollar greenway project, the newly renovated park, and the fancy $300/night hotel and convention center. I'd like to meet again, without the police department representatives, with just the neighbors so that we can make a plan for how we're going to get them out of here.

I think the basic strategy is for us to use our park a lot, and for us to just call on every illegal thing we see. To report abandoned cars and street camping right away.

Since the drug dealers have been hanging out at the park all day, every day, none of us have wanted to take our kids over there. I know I haven't been there with the kids for months. Some neighbors are saying they've found needles and human feces over there. That's messed up.
